Snowflake in a Star Foundation Paper Piecing Pattern
A snowflake inside a star makes a beautiful winter quilt block for Christmas sewing and cozy seasonal projects. This Foundation Paper Piecing pattern combines a crisp geometric snowflake with a classic star for a block that feels festive without being limited to Christmas.
Use the Snowflake in a Star quilt block for Christmas quilts, winter pillows, table runners, placemats, wall hangings, tote bags, mini quilts, and handmade holiday gifts. Sew it in icy blues and whites, classic Christmas colors, modern pinks and aquas, or make it completely scrappy.

LOVE CHRISTMAS STARS?
The Snowflake in a Star is also included in the Merry Stars Bundle #1, together with four more festive Christmas star quilt blocks. Get all five patterns here:
👉 Merry Stars Bundle

Want the whole Christmas star collection? The Christmas Stars Collection of 10 includes all ten festive star quilt block patterns in one big bundle:
👉 Christmas Stars Bundle of 10

FABRIC REQUIREMENTS
Individual yardage is not listed for every color because most colors require only very small, scrap sized amounts, and even ⅛ yard is usually more than needed.
For the 12”x 12” block, approximately ¼ yard of background fabric or one fat quarter is recommended. Only small amounts are needed for the remaining colors, making this snowflake quilt block a great project for using fabric scraps.
SKILL LEVEL
This pattern is designed for quilters who are familiar with Foundation Paper Piecing.
IMPORTANT NOTE
This pattern does NOT include a full Foundation Paper Piecing tutorial.
