Then cut out the template.

Step 2
Baste about 42 1" hexies and place them on your stocking template. depending on how you place them, you'll only need half hexies on the sides. If you're using larger hexies, you'll need less hexies altogether.

Step 3
Sew together your hexies. Add now the fusable batting to this by ironing it to the back side.
Make a 'quilt-sandwich' with your hexie top , the batting and your backing/lining fabric and quilt as desired. I quilted diamonds.
You then repeat the same for the back side of the stocking. Make a 'quilt-sandwich' with your back side fabric, batting ( iron on, if fusable) and lining fabric and quilt as desired.

Now cut two stocking shapes using your stocking template.

Step 4
Place front and back of your stocking right sides together and stitch along the outside edge using a 1/4" seam allowance.
Now turn your stocking so the right side is out.

Step 5
Attach the binding to the top edge of your stocking from the outside and stictch the inside by hand. Add a little hook made out of your binding strip to the back middle seam of your stocking. If you wish, you can embellish your stocking with pom poms. I handstitched them to the outside.

Optional
I made a cute little stocking hanger out of some fabric scraps.
I handstitched the stocking owners name on the back.
